I hope everyone had a peaceful break. We were so excited to welcome back our students yesterday!
This Friday is the Mother Son Dance, sponsored by our Friends of Budlong. Tickets are on sale now and they are only $15, and $20 at the door. Hope to see you there!
With Thanksgiving just days away, calendars get filled so quickly this time of year, and it’s no different at Budlong. There are quite a few things happening here this month, and so I want to say thank you to all our families for their continued support of our students and school community. I appreciate all the efforts of our Budlong Families!
Our Friends of Budlong is gearing up for the Mother-Son Dance on 11/30, and you don’t want to miss it. Tickets are on sale now in our main office. Here is the link to volunteer at the event:
FOB is also planning our first gala, an adult only night out, on January 26 at Empirical Brewery. Save the Date reminders will be sent in backpack mail in the coming weeks.
And congratulations to the three teacher teams for being selected as recipients of the first ever FOB Teacher Grants.
Thank you to our very generous FOB for granting the funds to make these special projects a reality in Budlong classrooms.
Thank you for attending Report Card Pick-up, and we look forward to increased communication with our families throughout the year now that all our classrooms are using Class Dojo and/or Remind. If you have not already done so, please share your email address with your student's teacher as soon as possible.
Dress to impress for assemblies this week! On Monday, we are celebrating students with perfect attendance for first quarter. This assembly will be for students only. On Tuesday, we will be honoring students who exemplify the Budlong Habits of Heart, Mind, and Work. In addition, students will also be recognized for creativity and "most improved." Teacher teams selected students from each classroom and parents of the recipients were/will be notified by their student's teacher so they can attend on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s assembly represents a shift for us here at Budlong. In the past we have done an honor roll assembly, but this year, our focus will be on those traits that really serve as the foundation for becoming a strong student. The Habits help us articulate those characteristics we believe successful students embody.
And finally, the Book Fair has been extended through Monday, 11/19. Students will be able to make purchases throughout the day in the library.
Students have no school Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Classes will resume on Monday, November 25.
Have a relaxing, safe, and joy-filled holiday. Happy Thanksgiving
Here are updates as we head into the last week of October:
We need your support for our upcoming fundraisers:
Thank you to all our parents who have completed, or are in the process of completing, the CPS Volunteer Process (all volunteers must complete level 1). The first step is to complete an online application here: FACE2. Be sure to work with your child's teacher to create a schedule and list of tasks.
Mark your calendars for upcoming events:
And finally, I am proud to announce that Budlong has earned the 1+ rating again for the third consecutive year. This designation is the culmination of hard work by our staff, students, and families. Congratulations!
Have a #budlongbeautiful weekend :)
Happy Friday. Before we head into the three-day weekend, here are a few updates:
Have a restful and peaceful weekend spent with family and friends.
Today was a great first day! Please ask your student what their favorite part of the day was :) For us, it was all the smiles throughout the day!
Regarding volunteering at Budlong, thank you to everyone who has applied to volunteer at Budlong this year. While CPS designates two levels of volunteerism, according to number of hours per week, and task, I ask that all volunteers go through the more stringent of the two protocols. Given the different tasks our volunteers take on, and number of hours per week, this will also allow more flexibility in the support volunteers can provide day to day and class to class. This requires more steps from our volunteers, so thank you for your cooperation, and patience, during the process. There's nothing more important than the safety of our students.
After you apply, you will be receive an email from CPS explaining next steps to follow, including bringing in your photo ID to Budlong. Please stop in to see Ms. Gorder between 7:45 - 8:15 am in room 107 to do so. Ms. Gorder can be reached at email@example.com.
More information on the process can be found at:
Good Afternoon, Budlong Families.
The first day of school is tomorrow, September 4th. As we finish the final preparations at school, and you get ready at home, the anticipation and excitement builds. We can't wait to welcome students to the 2018-19 year!
A few reminders about morning line-up:
As always, if you have question or concerns, about safety, academics, and everything in between, please reach out to me, and your child’s teacher.
Here’s to a great year!
Hi Budlong Families!
Just another friendly reminder that the best way to buy school supplies is Yubbler. www.yubbler.com/Yub/Details/18832. Budlong also gets 50% back, so there's no reason not to "Yubbler."
Have a great weakend :)
Just a few announcements as we start getting ready for the fall:
We still have four weeks of summer vacation, so enjoy :) We look forward to seeing everyone soon.
The contest ends tomorrow. Please order as soon as possible so that Budlong is in the running to win the $1000!
If you haven't yet purchased school supplies, it's easier than ever. Just go to this link on Yubbler: https://www.yubbler.com/Yub/Details/18832
Not only does Yubbler donate a percentage of sales to Budlong, but they are running a competition that we need to win! The school with the most orders for the week of 7/27 and 8/3 will receive a check for $1000! Spread the word, and lets win that $1000 for our students :)
