Dear Budlong Families,
The safety of our children is always our top priority, which is why I must inform you of a situation that has recently come to light. There has been an allegation made that one of our non-teaching staff members engaged improperly with a student. The allegation does not involve sexual misconduct. An investigation is being conducted by the Office of Student Protections and Title IX (OSP), and this individual has been blocked from working in CPS schools. The family of the impacted student has been notified and supports are available to the student. Based on the information learned during the OSP’s investigation, a final determination will be made regarding whether it is appropriate for this individual to return to Budlong. We will update the school community once the investigation is completed. Please know that we are taking this situation seriously, and we remain committed to providing your children with a safe, positive learning environment where they can reach their full potential. Please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. You can also contact the OSP at 773-535-4400. Sincerely, Naomi Nakayama, Principal Budlong Elementary School
