Happy Monday! Spring is in the air... I think, and more events are right around the corner. Mark your calendars for Budlong under the Stars, our annual fun fair, on May 31st. This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and the favorite of our students. Planning is underway and the first general meeting will be tomorrow at 3:30 in room 205. Committees are forming and we need you to make it a success. Hope to see you there :)
Congratulations to our very own seventh grader Yuri Kolovos for advancing to state in Science Fair for his project, "Best Design for Rescue Robot." Way to go, Yuri! And if you didn't see Budlong's Got Talent Show Friday night, produced by Ms. Teresa, you missed an amazing showcase of student talent. Congratulations to all our performers and special recognition goes to:
And, for the 2019-20 school year, Budlong After Care will be extended to 6:15pm. We will also be taking students through fifth grade. Please help spread the word to prospective Budlong families. Have a great week!

Good Afternoon. I want to provide information on what happened overnight to our school's small play lot.
At approximately 4:30 am, a car crashed into the LED sign and fence. I'm told there were no injuries. Crews are working on removing the sign, one part of the fence, and debris; they are also putting up a temporary fence. The small play lot will be locked and should not be used until all the debris is removed and repairs are completed. Please remind your students the small play lot is closed for repair. Once repairs are completed and the area is ready for our students and community, I will let everyone know. Thank you. Budlong has just been notified that we are eligible to receive a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program for school year 2019-2020.
The purpose of this grant is to increase fresh fruit and vegetable consumption in elementary schools participating in NSLP. Fresh Fruit and Vegetable funds are used to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to children at no cost, during the school day outside of the reimbursable meal(s) periods. We are excited to participate in this program in conjunction with our Healthy Schools mindset. Budlong Families,
Swedish Covenant has notified us that tomorrow, March 7, 2019, Western Utility will be doing construction on Winona Ave which will result in partial shutdowns of the street and Northern sidewalk on Winona Ave. During this time there will be intermittent shutdowns to one lane on California Ave. Work will start around 9:00 am and is expected to be completed by Thursday, March 14, 2019. There will only be access on Winona for ambulances, patient discharges and hospital deliveries so keep in mind they will not be letting us pass. For access to the parking lot KISS-N-GO, you will have to go south on Lincoln, turn right on Carmen, and make another right on Washtenaw. All spots in the KISS-N-GO area will be reserved for staff during this construction. We understand that with the construction there will be little street parking available as well. Please plan accordingly so our students can be at school on time. Thank you. Hello everyone,
