Principal's Letter- May 6, 2018

​Good Morning.  May is here, and with sunshine!  Here are a few school updates:

• Starting Monday, May 7th, students will line up outside for morning entry.  Let's be early every morning and enjoy being outside.
• Starting Monday, May 7th, dismissal will be slightly different for some of our students:

​          - AM pre-k: teachers will dismiss students from door 9.
          - PM pre-k: no change
          - Kinder - 5th: teachers will dismiss students from the field.  All parents should wait
            on the field near your child's room number to keep the sidewalk clear, allowing
            classes to dismiss quickly and safely.
          - 6th-8th: teachers will dismiss students on Foster avenue.  

• Know families with students starting kindergarten next year, or other prospective Budlong families? Tell them about Budlong school tours every Wednesday morning at 9am.  We can't wait to meet them!
• The 2018-19 CPS pre-k application is now available at chicagoearlylearning.org.  Be sure to list Budlong as your #1 choice.
• Teacher appreciation week is the week of May 9th.  Be sure to let your teacher know you appreciate her/him.
• Budlong under the Stars needs more volunteers for the food committee.  Please contact Ms. Savakis at rsavakis@cps.edu to join and get started. 
• Budlong under the Stars raffle tickets and wristbands sales will start on 5/14, before and after school every Monday and Tuesday until the event.  Early bird wristband purchases are $20 each or $25 at the door.  General admission is just $5 without the wristband.
• Prizes: Enter the raffle to win some amazing gift baskets for just $5 per ticket. I MEAN IT, THEY ARE AMAZING!  And, new this year, for just $10 a ticket, you can enter to win a $500 cash prize!

• 5/21- After Care Program and After school tutoring are cancelled
• 5/22- FOB Meeting @ 7:00 p.m.
• 5/22-6/8- Map Testing Window
• 5/28- Memorial Day- NO SCHOOL
• 6/1- Budlong Under the Stars @ 4:00-8:00 p.m.
• 6/11-6/13- End of Year Awards Assemblies
• 6/12- LSC Meeting @ 7:45 a.m.
• 6/14- PAC Meeting @ 8:30 a.m.
• 6/18- 8th Grade Graduation @ 9:00 a.m.
• 6/18- FOB Meeting @ 7:00 p.m.
• 6/19- KDG Graduation @ 9:00 a.m.
• 6/19- Last Day of School for students
